The Command Center the Backstory

THIS IS NOT JUST A CATCHY TITLE it is literally a former Command vehicle used by the California Highway Patrol. Talk about a cool retrofit project! It has been less than a month since the vehicle was purchased so I guess this would be a good time to document the process?

Think about how much money is wasted when it comes to the fleets of all different kinds of vehicles that services the 'needs' of state organizations. this one is no exception. Sitting atop a GMC PG Medium Duty Forward Control Chassis with a 7.0 liter 427 V8 and an Allison Automatic Transmission. How it was outfitted and modified to suit the purposes of the CHP is nothing short of amazing.

This article was originally started back in May of 2018, This vehicle was purchased as a project between myself and my friend Mike Urbancic. Mike was the guy with all the mechanical ability and the in with the CHP to be able to purchase the the vehicle. The first time we laid eyes on the command vehicle both of us immediately had different ideas as to what to do with it. Fortunately both of us had really cool ideas.inĀ  Unfortunately Mike died later that month.

Since Mikes passing the vehicle has been storage and awaiting new inspiration and motivation. May he rest in peace.

Until next time,

Paul
